SideBoard Rack wins STAR Award

star2012_041912Wheatstone proudly announces that its SideBoard Rack compact rack-mount control surface is a recipient of the TV Technology magazine STAR award. The presentation was made by TV Technology editor Tom Butts at the Wheatstone booth at NAB 2012.

The SideBoard Rack is designed for use with Wheatstone's WheatNet-IP system. Each fader channel on the SideBoard Rack has an ON/OFF switch, PGM and AUD bus assign buttons, a programmable button that can be used for source preset, talkback, etc., and a Set switch for accessing the central source selection rotary control. Each fader has its own 8-character input source display. The stereo PGM output is metered with dual 20-segment LED bargraphs.

The monitor section has a headphone output with level control, and six programmable monitor source hot buttons for instant selection. There is also a source encoder knob with a TAKE switch, and an associated display that, as with the input channels, can access any signal in the Intelligent Network.

Now celebrating its 12th anniversary, the STAR Awards (for Superior Technology Award Recipient) are designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the media industry. A judging panel of broadcast industry experts reviewed a variety of products and services, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.

“The NAB show serves as the launching pad for thousands of new products and services for audio and video professionals,” said Tom Butts, TV Technology Editor-in-Chief. “Our panel of editors walked the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies. The products and services that we selected for the STAR Award made the cut—they demonstrated their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum.”
